Canberra is the capital of Australia, although it is a very small city often dominated by Sydney and Melbourne. While it may not have the big city vibe, it is a beautiful place to live and study. Do you know… The ACT is a territory that is an enclave of New South Wales. Similar to Washington DC in the United States, it was carved out of surrounding states to create a space for the capital city. It is the seat of government, with the Australian Parliament House sitting atop a hill in the middle of the city. It was designed by an American architect, Walter Burley Griffin and his wife, Marion Mahony. The lake in the middle of the city is called Lake Burley Griffin.Â
